How to Create a Boho Bedroom

Boho style interiors have become a big deal in recent years, creating a cosy, peaceful and warm environment.  While this particular decor idea won’t appeal to everyone, we’re sure some of you out there will love the arty feel this interior trend will bring to your home.

Many confuse this style with colour. You can create a boho effect room without injecting crazy colours, although that is also an option. Nature and organic references throughout your furniture and accessories help convey this style clearly. Having an array of large and small plants around the room can bring clam to the rooms environment, while injecting a pop of natural colour. When choosing a natural effect be sure to use dark blacks, grey, and navy to contrast sandy shades and bright white.

Using baskets and wooden effect flooring and hardwood also helps to give a rustic desert feel, and can add depth to a room which may be painted a light colour, as you do not want your room to feel washed out in the same repetitive shades.

In contrast to this, try painting a feature wall or the full room a crazy colour, pastel tones are best for this as deeper shades can look harsh and dark. Use pom-pom throws, Aztec patterns and unique throw pillows to create an effortlessly styled bed. Golds are commonly used for decorative vases, lamps, candles and mirrors, adding a luxury feel.

Add items such as patterned rugs, dream catchers, pineapples, funky fabric lamps and cactus plants to help accessorise the room to achieve its full boho style potential. Imagery of sugar skulls, patterned plates, birds and tigers are good starting points for wall art inspiration. Hanging lanterns and funky wallpaper can also express this message.

Invest in funky coloured furniture, or paint plain browns into crazy colour. Be creative, DIY old items, add pom poms to blankets, change drawer handles and switch up your lighting.

Greens, pinks, turquoises and yellows are inviting warm shades that will give you that bohemian feel. This technique can be used in gardens, living areas and even bathrooms, if this is your style carry it throughout your home and create an Aztec lover’s desert dream house.
